Parking, Boats and Arriving by Water: What to Know Before Your Island Stay

One of the pleasures of staying on a private island is knowing that the practical details have been thoughtfully taken care of. At Round Island, we aim to make arrival and logistics as straightforward as possible, so you can start relaxing from the moment your holiday begins.

Here’s everything you need to know about parking, arriving by boat, and bringing your own vessel.

Car parking at Lake Yard Marina

Your journey to Round Island begins at Lake Yard Marina in Poole, and we’re pleased to confirm that parking for one car is included in the cost of each cottage booked.

This means you can arrive, unload your luggage, and step aboard our private launch without worrying about additional parking charges.

Bringing more than one car?

Lake Yard Marina may be able to accommodate additional vehicles, but this is subject to availability and must be arranged directly with the marina a few days before your stay, when they have a clear idea of boat movements in the marina for that week. Lake Yard is a busy working marina.

If the marina car park is full, there is also plenty of on-road parking nearby, within easy walking distance of Lake Yard. This flexibility is helpful for families or groups travelling separately.

Can we bring our own boat?

Yes — and this is something that makes Round Island particularly special for boating guests.

Guests are very welcome to bring their own boat. We have:

• Two swinging moorings

These are available by prior arrangement and at no extra charge.

Arriving under your own steam adds another layer of freedom to an island holiday in Poole Harbour, whether you’re an experienced sailor or simply enjoy having your boat close by during your stay.

If you plan to bring a boat, we just ask that you let us know in advance so we can ensure everything is ready for your arrival.
